I have always felt that selling big diamonds is a little bit different. An approach designed for the upscale client is needed. Over the years I have formed the Ten Commandments you see below. I will expand upon each one in the coming weeks.
- Expect your diamond dealer to help you.
- Build a strong relationship with a select group of large stone suppliers.
- It is much harder to sell stones you don’t have.
- To make large stone sales and make more money, adjust your margin!
- Build your reputation with large diamonds.
- Show large stones to everyone.
- Try to dedicate a special area or desk for helping people buy big stones.
- Know who is buying.
- Always sell the beauty, rarity, value and fascination of your stones.
- Be prepared.

I believe there is an 11th commandment you have overlooked. We have found that the key to selling large stones is to promote our ability to create custom pieces. Our jeweler passed awya several years ago and we ceased our offering. We recently picked it back up when we received a call from a manufacturer who featured customization. If you have not heard about them, I recommend you contact Paragon Lake. They have a website at www.paragonlake.com, but it does not make sense to me.
God Bless.
