III.       It is much harder to sell stones you don’t have.

It is important to have your own inventory.  You need to show strength to you clients.  The more you have on hand the more sales you can make.  It is always best to “strike while the iron is hot”.

It is always best to foster a relationship of strength with one favorite and reliable diamond dealer.  Buy from him.  Don’t bargin off every last penny of his profit.  Make the relationship mutually benificial.

When you have a good relationship with a dealer, ask him to leave stones in your store on memo all year round.  That way you leverage the dollars you do spend into a larger inventory then you actually own.  And remember the more you have on hand the more you sell.
